প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন, এইচএসসি পরীক্ষায় ছেলেদের তুলনায় মেয়েরা ভালো করেছে। আমাদের দেশে এই প্রথম এমনটা হল। এইচএসসি পরীক্ষায় ছেলেদের তুলনায় ২ শতাংশের বেশি মেয়ে পাশ করেছে।
শেখ হাসিনা মেয়েদের অভিনন্দন জানান। এখন, আরও অভিভাবকরা তাদের মেয়েদের স্কুলে পাঠাবেন। মেয়েরা এখন বেশি চাকরির সুযোগ পাবে।

এইচএসসির ফল প্রকাশের আগে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছিলেন, মেয়েরা ছেলেদের ছাড়িয়ে গেছে। এবং যখন ফলাফল প্রকাশ্যে এসেছে, তখন এটি সত্য হয়ে উঠেছে। শিক্ষামন্ত্রী দীপু মনির কারণে শেখ হাসিনা নির্ভুল ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেছেন। উপলক্ষটি উদ্‌যাপন করতে তিনি প্রথমে প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে ফলাফল দেখান। এবারই প্রথম এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার ফলাফলে মেয়েরা ছেলেদের ছাড়িয়ে গেছে। এইচএসসি পরীক্ষায় ছেলেদের তুলনায় ২.৫ শতাংশের বেশি মেয়ে পাশ করেছে।

Before the results for the Higher Secondary Exams were published, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that girls had outperformed boys. Once the results did come out, the story proved to be true. Sheikh Hasina could make this prediction because she had the results in hand thanks to Education Minister Dipu Moni. Dipu Moni had passed the results to Sheikh Hasina first to commemorate the occasion. This is the first time girls have outperformed and surpassed boys in the HSC exam results. The pass rate was almost 2.5 percent more among female students than male ones. She congratulated the girls, while also saying that the boys should do better and focus more. Though this could be seen as a biting remark, the Prime Minister did mean well. The girls should be very proud. What does this mean for the future of Bangladesh? Firstly, more parents will be inspired to send their daughters to school. It is not uncommon for Bangladeshi families to not send their daughters to school. Secondly, this should help girls get better job opportunities, especially compared to their gender counterparts.
