Bidyanondo Foundation is a Bangladeshi NGO. They have come up with a creative idea called “Rickshaw Bin“. They say this will save Dhaka city from plastic pollution. A bag will collect plastic, paper, and polythene in the city. The bag will be attached to the back of a rickshaw. These rickshaw pullers can then sell the plastic for some extra cash.

They claim this will save Dhaka city from plastic pollution. How would they do that? Good question. They shared their grand plan with a post shared on the organization’s verified Facebook page on Tuesday. The recycle bin will collect non-biodegradable plastic, paper, and polythene waste in the city. The bin will be an aesthetically designed waste bag. The bag will be attached to the back of the human-powered three-wheeler, a rickshaw. The initiative is aimed at serving two purposes. It will reduce plastic pollution in the city, which has plagued the city for decades. It will also help rickshaw pullers financially from the salable plastic waste. Earlier last year, Bidyanondo adopted a unique initiative “Food for Plastic” on Saint Martin’s island. Under the project, the islanders would put plastic waste on one side of a scale and daily necessities on the other. They would then weigh rice, lentils, and oil to take them home in exchange for the plastic waste materials. Both of these unique projects help show the creativity of Bidyanondo.
