The government will move 40 tribal languages to the digital format. This means these languages can be used on keyboards. 14 of these languages have almost been forgotten. So this will help save these languages. A meeting was held to discuss this project. Poets and writers attended the meeting. Language officials of Chakma and Marma were also present.

সরকার ৪০টি উপজাতীয় ভাষাকে ডিজিটাল পদ্ধতিতে নিয়ে যাবে। এর মানে এই ভাষাগুলো কীবোর্ডে ব্যবহার করা যাবে। এর মধ্যে ১৪টি ভাষা প্রায় বিস্মৃত হয়েছে। তাই এটি এই ভাষাগুলোকে সংরক্ষণ করতে সাহায্য করবে। এই প্রকল্প নিয়ে আলোচনার জন্য একটি বৈঠক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বৈঠকে কবি ও সাহিত্যিকরা যোগদান করেছিলেন। চাকমা ও মারমা ভাষা কর্মকর্তারাও উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

So this will help save these languages. A meeting was held to discuss this project. The event was attended by poets, writers, and people who represent common languages. Some of these languages included Chakma, Marma, Santal, and others. At the meeting, the need to protect heritage was discussed. They gave special importance to turning these languages digital. At the meeting, one person said that these languages must be saved for the future generations. Work has already started on the project. 37 out of 40 languages have already been completed.

সরকার ৪০টি জাতিগত ভাষাকে ডিজিটাল পদ্ধতিতে নিয়ে যাওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করছে। এর অর্থ এগুলো কীবোর্ডে এবং ইন্টারনেট অনুসন্ধানের জন্য ব্যবহার করা যাবে। এর মধ্যে ১৪টি ভাষা প্রায় বিলুপ্ত। তাই এটি এই ভাষাগুলোকে সংরক্ষণ করতে সাহায্য করবে। এই প্রকল্প নিয়ে আলোচনার জন্য একটি বৈঠক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে কবি, সাহিত্যিক এবং সাধারণ ভাষাগুলোর প্রতিনিধিত্বকারী ব্যক্তিরা যোগদান করেছিলেন। এর মধ্যে কয়েকটি ভাষার অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল চাকমা, মারমা, সাঁওতাল এবং অন্যান্য।
বৈঠকে ঐতিহ্য রক্ষার প্রয়োজনীয়তা নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়। তারা এই ভাষাগুলোকে ডিজিটাল করার ওপর বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দিয়েছে। বৈঠকে একজন বলেন, এই ভাষাগুলো ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য সংরক্ষণ করতে হবে। ইতিমধ্যে প্রকল্পের কাজ শুরু হয়েছে। ৪০টি ভাষার মধ্যে ৩৭টি ইতিমধ্যেই সম্পন্ন হয়েছে।

The government’s ICT division has initiated efforts to preserve and digitize 40 ethnic languages. 14 of these are endangered languages. To further this initiative, a discussion meeting titled ‘Font and keyboard construction of ethnic languages’ was held. The meeting was presided over by the Project Director of the “Enrichment of Bengali Language Development” Project. The event was attended by poets, writers, technologists, and common language representatives, from various languages. Some of these languages included Chakma, Marma, and Santal, among others. At the meeting, the need to protect cultural heritage and diversity was discussed. The part about digitalising these languages was given special emphasis. These languages must be preserved for the sake of future generations, remarked one representative. Some challenges were discussed as well. The main one would be cooperation and initiative. The government has actually been working on this initiation since January 2022. 37 out of the 40 scheduled languages have already been sampled. The construction of fonts and keyboards for languages with their own alphabets has been started. This effort will ensure the presence of ethnic language speakers in the digital world by enabling them to use their mother tongue on the keyboard. Dream 71 Bangladesh Limited is leading the project.

সরকারের আইসিটি বিভাগ ৪০টি জাতিগত ভাষার সংরক্ষণ ও ডিজিটালকরণের প্রচেষ্টা শুরু করেছে। এর মধ্যে ১৪টি বিপন্ন ভাষা। এই উদ্যোগকে আরও এগিয়ে নিতে ‘জাতিগত ভাষার হরফ ও কীবোর্ড নির্মাণ’ শীর্ষক আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বৈঠকে সভাপতিত্ব করেন “বাংলা ভাষা উন্নয়ন সমৃদ্ধকরণ” প্রকল্পের প্রকল্প পরিচালক। অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন ভাষার কবি, সাহিত্যিক, প্রযুক্তিবিদ এবং সাধারণ ভাষা প্রতিনিধিরা যোগদান করেছিলেন। এর মধ্যে অন্য কয়েকটি ভাষার মধ্যে অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল চাকমা, মারমা এবং সাঁওতাল। বৈঠকে সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য ও বৈচিত্র্য রক্ষার প্রয়োজনীয়তা নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়। এই ভাষাগুলোকে ডিজিটালকরণের অংশে বিশেষ জোর দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
এই ভাষাগুলোকে ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের স্বার্থে সংরক্ষণ করতে হবে, মন্তব্য করেছেন একজন প্রতিনিধি। পাশাপাশি কিছু চ্যালেঞ্জ নিয়েও আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। প্রধান হবে সহযোগিতা এবং উদ্যোগ। সরকার আসলে ২০২২ সালের জানুয়ারি থেকে এই উদ্যোগ নিয়ে কাজ করছে। ৪০টি নির্ধারিত ভাষার মধ্যে ৩৭টি ইতিমধ্যেই নমুনা করা হয়েছে। নিজস্ব বর্ণমালা সহ ভাষার জন্য কম্পিউটারের অক্ষর এবং কীবোর্ড নির্মাণ শুরু হয়েছে। এই প্রচেষ্টা ডিজিটাল বিশ্বে জাতিগত ভাষা ভাষাভাষীদের উপস্থিতি নিশ্চিত করবে, তাদের কীবোর্ডে তাদের মাতৃভাষা ব্যবহার করতে সক্ষম করার দ্বারা। প্রকল্পের নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছে ড্রিম সেভেন্টিওয়ান বাংলাদেশ লিমিটেড।
