Dhaka University has named an exam hall after a female student, Leela Nag. Leela Nag was the first female student at DU. She was a student of the department of English. Therefore, the exam hall will be for the arts faculty. She was admitted to the Department of English in 1921. Leela Nag helped women who faced domestic violence.

মহিলা শিক্ষার্থী লীলা নাগের নামে একটি পরীক্ষার হলের নামকরণ করেছে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। লীলা নাগ ঢাবির প্রথম মহিলা শিক্ষার্থী ছিলেন। তিনি ইংরেজি বিভাগের একজন শিক্ষার্থী ছিলেন। অতএব, পরীক্ষার হল হবে কলা অনুষদের জন্য। ১৯২১ সালে তাকে ইংরেজি বিভাগে ভর্তি করা হয়। লীলা নাগ এমন মহিলাদের সাহায্য করেছিলেন যারা পারিবারিক সহিংসতার সম্মুখীন হয়েছিল।

Dhaka University has named an exam hall after its first female student, Leela Nag. Leela Nag was a student of the department of English. Therefore, the exam hall will be for the arts faculty. The DU Vice-Chancellor revealed the ‘plaque’ with Leela’s name. The Dean, the English department teachers, and students were present at the event. She was admitted to the Department of English in 1921. She was a ‘social activist’ and worked for female students. Leela Nag opened many educational institutions for women. These were not just in the DU campus, but outside as well. Leela Nag fought for women empowerment. She helped women who faced domestic violence. This is a major step toward equality in Bangladesh.

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর প্রথম মহিলা শিক্ষার্থী লীলা নাগের নামে একটি পরীক্ষার হলের নামকরণ করেছে। লীলা নাগ ইংরেজি বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী ছিলেন। অতএব, পরীক্ষার হল হবে কলা অনুষদের জন্য। লীলার নামের ফলকটি প্রকাশ করেন ঢাবি উপাচার্য। অনুষ্ঠানে ডিন, ইংরেজি বিভাগের শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। ১৯২১ সালে তাকে ইংরেজি বিভাগে ভর্তি করা হয়।
তিনি একজন ‘সমাজকর্মী’ ছিলেন এবং মহিলা শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য কাজ করতেন। লীলা নাগ মহিলাদের জন্য অনেক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান খুলেছিলেন। এগুলো শুধু ঢাবি ক্যাম্পাসে নয়, বাইরেও ছিল। লীলা নাগ নারীর ক্ষমতায়নের জন্য লড়াই করেছিলেন। তিনি এমন মহিলাদের সাহায্য করেছিলেন যারা পারিবারিক সহিংসতার সম্মুখীন হয়েছিল। বাংলাদেশে সমতার দিকে এটি একটি প্রধান পদক্ষেপ।

The Dhaka University authorities have named an exam hall of the arts faculty after its first female student, Leela Nag. The DU Vice-Chancellor unveiled the plaque of Leela Nag Exam Hall in the Arts Building. The Dean of the Arts Faculty, the English Department Chairman, along with teachers, students, and officials, were present on the occasion. Leela Nag was admitted to the Department of English in 1921. She was a social activist and worked for female students, said the Dean during the inauguration. In addition to these, she also did a number of other social work to help women. He said and added that Leela Nag established many cultural and educational institutions, not just in the DU campus, but outside of it as well. Leela Nag stood up for women empowerment and always helped women who were affected by domestic violence at that time, concluded the Dean. The country is still very backward in many aspects. However, this is a major step toward equality and women’s rights in Bangladesh. This will encourage more parents to send their daughters to school and college. ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ কলা অনুষদের একটি পরীক্ষার হলের নামকরণ করেছে এর প্রথম মহিলা শিক্ষার্থী লীলা নাগের নামে। কলা ভবনে লীলা নাগ পরীক্ষার হলের ফলক উন্মোচন করেন ঢাবি উপাচার্য। অনুষ্ঠানে কলা অনুষদের ডিন, ইংরেজি বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যানসহ, শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। ১৯২১ সালে লীলা নাগকে ইংরেজি বিভাগে ভর্তি করা হয়। তিনি একজন সমাজকর্মী ছিলেন এবং মহিলা শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য কাজ করতেন, উদ্বোধনের সময় ডিন বলেন। এগুলোর পাশাপাশি, তিনি মহিলাদের সাহায্য করার জন্য অন্যান্য সামাজিক কাজ করেছেন।
