India just sent a rover to the Moon. It is called Chandrayaan-3. Rovers are special robots that are sent to other planets. India made history by landing the robot on the south pole of the moon. With this, India joins the list of countries that have landed on the Moon. The list includes countries such as the US and China.

ভারত সবেমাত্র চাঁদে একটি রোভার পাঠিয়েছে। একে চন্দ্রযান-৩ বলা হয়। রোভার হল বিশেষ রোবট যা অন্যান্য গ্রহে পাঠানো হয়। চাঁদের দক্ষিণ মেরুতে রোবট অবতরণের মাধ্যমে ইতিহাস গড়ল ভারত। এর মাধ্যমে চাঁদে অবতরণ করা দেশগুলোর তালিকায় যোগ দিল ভারত। তালিকায় মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র এবং চীনের মতো দেশগুলো অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে।

The country made history by becoming the first to land near the South Pole. The rover dropped onto the lunar surface and took India on a walk on the Moon. The Vikram lander successfully touched down as planned on Wednesday evening. With this, India joins an elite club of countries to achieve a soft landing on the Moon. The club includes countries such as the US, the former Soviet Union, and China. The 26kg rover was carried to the Moon in the Vikram lander’s belly. Panels on one side of Vikram opened to deploy a ramp to enable Pragyaan to slide down to the lunar surface. It will now roam around the rocks and craters, gathering data and images to be sent back to Earth. Pragyaan is carrying scientific instruments which will try to find out what minerals are present on the moon. Pragyaan will communicate only with the lander which will send the information to the orbiter from Chandrayaan-2. The lander is still circling the Moon. Information from the lander will be passed on to the Earth.
