গত রবিবার নতুন ঢাকা এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে খুলে দেওয়া হয়। বহুদিন ধরে মানুষ এই দিনটির অপেক্ষায় ছিল। এটা সারা শহরের যানজট হ্রাস করবে। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে উদ্বোধনের সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। রবিবার সকাল ৬টায় এটি খুলে দেওয়া হয়। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে ব্যবহার করে এখন বিমানবন্দর থেকে ফার্মগেট যেতে সময় লাগবে মাত্র ১২ থেকে ১৫ মিনিট।

ঢাকা এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে গত রবিবার খুলে দেওয়া হয়। বহুদিন ধরে মানুষ এই দিনটির অপেক্ষায় ছিল। এটা পুরো রাজধানী শহরের যানজট হ্রাস করবে। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। রবিবার সকাল ৬টায় যান চলাচলের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হয়। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে ব্যবহার করে এখন বিমানবন্দর থেকে ফার্মগেট যেতে সময় লাগবে মাত্র ১২ থেকে ১৫ মিনিট।
ঢাকা এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে দিয়ে প্রতিদিন প্রায় ৮০ হাজার যানবাহন চলাচল করতে পারবে। নগরীর চারপাশে গাড়ি চালানোর সময় এখন তারা কম ভুগবে বলে মনে করেন ঢাকার নাগরিকরা। তারা বলছেন, ঢাকা বিমানবন্দর থেকে ফার্মগেট যেতে সাধারণত এক ঘণ্টা সময় লাগে। যানজট কর্মব্যস্ত থাকলে এমনকি দুই ঘন্টাও লাগতে পারে।

Commuters feel that the country’s first elevated expressway will reduce suffering in the busy city. They say it usually takes half an hour to an hour to go from Dhaka airport to Farmgate by road. Sometimes it takes one and a half to two hours or more if the traffic is heavy. Going to the destination in 12 or 15 minutes is like a dream, say commuters who use this road on a daily basis. বহুল প্রতীক্ষিত ঢাকা এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে শনিবার উদ্বোধন হওয়ায় রাজধানীজুড়ে যানজট নিরসনে নতুন আশার সঞ্চার হয়েছে। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের বিমানবন্দর সড়ক-ফার্মগেট অংশের উদ্বোধন করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। রবিবার সকাল ৬টায় এটি যান চলাচলের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হয়। ফলে কাওলা থেকে ফার্মগেট যেতে এখন সময় লাগবে মাত্র ১২ থেকে ১৫ মিনিট। ঢাকা এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে দিয়ে প্রতিদিন প্রায় ৮০,০০০ যানবাহন চলাচল করতে পারবে। দেশের প্রথম এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে ব্যস্ত শহরের ভোগান্তি কমাবে বলে মনে করছেন নিত্যযাত্রীরা।
