The British curriculum is going to include sign language as a subject. GCSE stands for general certificate of secondary education. Some English medium schools in Bangladesh follow the GCSE syllabus. This subject will give sign language users a boost in their skill. It will also give non-sign language users a useful life skill. This subject will be available for students by September 2025.
By then the syllabus for the subject will be ready. The syllabus will also include the history of the language. However, finding teachers for this subject is going to be difficult, especially here in Bangladesh. Students may not find the subject interesting as well. So if the subject will be popular here in Bangladesh is still a question.

The British patented curriculum is going to include sign language as a GCSE subject. GCSE stands for general certificate of secondary education. Some English medium schools in Bangladesh follow the GCSE curriculum.The British government introduced the first ever GCSE in Sign Language in an attempt to increase inclusivity in schools. It will also give sign language users a useful life skill. The earliest that new students will be able to start studying for the subject is September 2025. By that time the exam board syllabuses are expected to be approved. The syllabus will also include the history of the language itself.
The inclusion of this subject has come to be thanks to many years of campaigning. Especially by celebrities and people of renown who were born deaf. Giving schools the resources to teach this subject is going to be a challenge. For one, finding qualified sign language teachers is going to be a lengthy ordeal. The problem will become tenfold for Bangladeshi schools. Sign language is not a viable language here, so finding teachers is going to be difficult. However, once schools do find the teachers for this subject, it will be a great help to sign language users.
