Five female lawyers have been made judges in the Supreme Court. This is the first time a woman has become a judge in Bangladesh. In total, there were 23 new judges. Out of them, 5 were female. For the first time in Bangladesh, five female lawyers have been made judges in the Supreme Court. This historic decision was announced on October 8, 2024. 23 new judges were appointed to the High Court that day, and five of them were women. They were sworn in by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed the very next day.
This is the start of a new era in the country’s law history. It is also a huge step for women in the legal profession. This will also serve as an inspiration for future generations. More young girls will be encouraged to pursue careers in law. The newly appointed justices are Mubina Asaf, Nasreen Akhtar, Ainunnahar Siddika, Tamanna Rahman, and Sathika Hossain.
