এক বৈঠকে, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা এসআরও এর করা একটি অনুরোধ অনুমোদন করেছেন। অনুরোধ ছিল বিভিন্ন দেশের সবুজ পাসপোর্টধারী বাংলাদেশিদের ‘দ্বৈত নাগরিকত্বের’ অনুমতি দেওয়া। এর মানে এই যে বাংলাদেশের মানুষ একই সময়ে ২টির বেশি দেশের নাগরিক হতে পারবেন। এর আগে বাংলাদেশিরা ৫৭টি দেশের নাগরিক হতে পারত। ৪৪টি নতুন দেশ এখন যোগ করা হয়েছে।
